One block in the Nether is eight blocks in the Overworld. Type coordinates on either side and the other one follows.

Your places
Save the current coordinates with a name, for example your base or a portal. They stay in this browser only.
Linking two portals
- Light your portal in the Overworld and write down its coordinates.
- Build the Nether portal at the matching Nether coordinates shown here. The height (Y) does not change between dimensions.
- When you go through a portal, the game looks for an existing portal near the matching spot: up to 128 blocks away in the Overworld, up to 16 blocks in the Nether. It takes the closest one.
- If two Overworld portals are less than 128 blocks apart they may lead to the same Nether portal. Keep them further apart, or build their Nether portals at the exact matching coordinates.
A Nether block covers an 8 × 8 area of the Overworld. That is why one Nether coordinate matches a range of eight Overworld coordinates.
About this tool
How do I convert Overworld coordinates to the Nether?
Divide X and Z by 8 and keep Y the same. For example X 800, Z −1600 in the Overworld is X 100, Z −200 in the Nether.
How do I link two Nether portals?
Build the Nether portal at the Overworld coordinates divided by 8. When you go through, the game looks for an existing portal up to 128 blocks away in the Overworld or 16 blocks in the Nether and takes the closest one.
Why does my portal go to the wrong place?
Another portal is closer to the matching spot. Build the portal at the exact coordinates shown by this Nether calculator, or keep your Overworld portals more than 128 blocks apart.
