How to build a circle in Minecraft

Minecraft has no round blocks, so a circle is made of short straight runs of blocks. The blueprint shows exactly which blocks to place: build the outline one row at a time, counting the blocks in each run, and mark the centre first so both halves match.

Thin or thick walls

A thin wall touches only at the corners of the blocks, so mobs and light can pass through the diagonal gaps. A thick wall closes those gaps: use it for walls you can walk along or that must keep mobs out.

Spheres and domes

A sphere is a stack of circles that get smaller towards the top and bottom. Move the layer slider and build one floor at a time from the bottom up; a dome is the top half of a sphere. For big spheres, build the widest middle layer first and use it as a guide.

About this tool

How do I make a perfect circle in Minecraft?

Pick the size in the circle generator and copy the blueprint: build one row at a time, counting the blocks of each run. Start from the centre so both halves match.

How many blocks do I need?

The generator counts the blocks for the circle or for every layer of a sphere or dome, and shows the total in stacks of 64.

Should I use an odd or even size?

Odd sizes have a single centre block, so they line up easily with a door or a path. Even sizes have a 2×2 centre.
